What is Grief?

  • Grief is the emotional, physical and spiritual response to a loss.
  • People may feel strong emotions like sadness & anger.
  • Body reactions (trouble sleeping, waves of nausea) are common.
  • Spiritual questions and searching for meaning can arise.

People React Emotionally & Physically

  • Grief can be messy and non‑linear—there’s no “right” way.
  • Emotions may feel stronger than you’ve ever experienced.
  • Your feelings are valid; you are not alone.

Stages of Grieving

  • Denial
  • Bargaining
  • Anger
  • Depression
  • Acceptance
